Employee Spotlight: Kirk MacGowan

MacGowan, Kirk

Kirk began his construction career with Sierra as an intern in the summer of 1997. Upon graduating from the University of Washington with a double major in Construction Management and Architecture, Kirk began full time as Project Engineer. Since that time, he’s worked his way to a Senior Project Manager title, now overseeing multiple projects ranging from industrial distribution centers to automotive dealerships, as well as city halls and other public works projects. His variety of experiences and thorough understanding of client concerns and design issues enable him to successfully lead the team for any given project, from inception to completion.

What brought you to Sierra?

I needed an internship for degree. Andy Bley was my fraternity brother and he was working at Sierra so I asked if he could connect me with the company. After that I stuck around.

If you weren’t in construction, what would you be doing?

Architect!

What is your favorite pastime? I’m a sucker for the Jack Reacher books.

The movies were ok. Tom Cruise was a horrible casting for that role though.

Where do you find yourself on the weekends?

Being family man and taking trips to Seabrook, near Pacific Beach.
