Spotlight: Jarrod Cooper

Jarrod became a part of Sierra in 1999 as a carpenter, and later became Sierra’s Service and Warranty Department Manager in 2003. Jarrod’s projects include small works jobs for past and present clients which can include complete tenant improvement projects to simple single-room make-overs. A recent project he managed was the 5th-floor renovation at Emerald Downs. Jarrod is known around the office for his witty banter, superb ability to change light bulbs and kill spiders.

How do you spend your weekends? The usual family stuff.

What are your three most overused words or phrases? Seriously?!?! That’s not warranty! I don’t do punch list work…

If you could only drink one beer (or wine) for the rest of your life, what would it be? ....Whiskey.

What’s your favorite color? Sierra maroon. If you cut me I bleed Sierra!

What is your favorite fruit or vegetable? Any vegetable swimming in butter, any fruit covered in chocolate.

Tell us something that might surprise us about you. have a 25 year old daughter and a 7 year old daughter with 2 sons and 2 more daughters in between!

Why the construction industry? I was working in the service industry (restaurant waiter) and didn’t want to have to be nice to people to make a living.

If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be? Sierra Receptionist, just one day, doubt I would survive… see above about being nice to people.

If you weren’t in construction, what would you be doing? I would love to be a farmer/rancher, seriously, a lifelong dream.
