Spotlight: Bryan Ploetz

Ploetz

Bryan is a Senior Project Manager here at Sierra, whose project history is stacked with tilt-ups and a few big-box retail projects. Starting in 1999, Bryan was a Civil Engineering graduate from the University of Colorado. Some recently completed projects include all phases of the Des Moines Creek Business Park, and currently underway SeaPORT Logistics, Building 1.

What was it like visiting your first jobsite? That was Dave Buckholtz, Tim “Wheels” Larson and myself sharing a 20’ trailer on a 24,000 sf Tilt in VDL Kent. A real slice of heaven there… Anyone else remember when we had land line phones and fax machines at jobsites?

Before coming to Sierra, what had you done for work? For 6 weeks one summer in college I sold Kirby vacuum cleaners door to door. The markup on those things was 300% so the commissions were big if you sold it close to retail price. I set a sales record for the time I was there and “retired”. Flush with cash for the rest of the summer and school year.

What is your favorite project type? I haven’t been lucky enough to get involved in the multifamily part of our business, so for me building concrete boxes is where it is at.

How do you spend your weekends? My kids are getting to the age that sports is picking up, right now it is soccer games. Fishing and camping with the family when we can.

If you could only drink one beer for the rest of your life, what would it be? Everyone knows I am a wine guy. Probably a nice Rosé.
