New Hire: Andrew Shaffer

Shaffer-Andrew

Join me in welcoming our newest Project Engineer, Andrew Shaffer!

Everett born and raised, Andrew Shaffer grew up around cranes and construction sites of his family business, Shaffer Cranes & Equipment Rentals. He graduated from Washington State University with a Business Administration and Finance degree and immediately went to work as a Financial Analyst - but quickly found that wasn't where he wanted to land. "I’ve been around cranes and construction sites my entire life and appreciate the feeling you get from making tangible progress on a project; for me, it’s much more fulfilling than crunching spreadsheets in a bank cubicle all day."

For the last two years, he worked as an Assistant Project Manager at Shaffer Crane. "I originally heard of Sierra through my Uncle Matt Todd, who has been working for the company for several years now. It wasn’t until I attended the Snohomish County Job Fair last month that I learned about the Project Engineer position. After speaking with Chris and Nancy at the job fair and meeting a few employees at the Woodinville HQ, I knew that Sierra would be a great fit."

Top three life highlights?
Graduating college on my Dad’s birthday, backpacking across Europe on my own and witnessing the Seahawks win their first Super Bowl in 2014.

What is your favorite pastime?
Spending time with friends and family, or watching college and NFL football (while enjoying a beer or two).

Tell us something that might surprise us about you.
It’s not directly about me, but I have two little brothers who are identical twins. Up until they were about 14 years old and started getting different haircuts, I was the only person that could tell them apart.

Favorite vacation spot?
Favorite vacation spot is a toss-up between Palm Springs, CA and Maui, HI.
