New Hire: Alex Newton

Newton-Alex-scaled

Please welcome Project Engineer, Alex Newton! Born in Bridgeton, New Jersey, Alex grew up in Walla Walla, Washington. He earned his Civil Engineering degree from the University of Idaho – does anyone else remember someone who spent some time here from the University of Idaho? Yep! Linden Flats’ 2017 summer intern Amanda Kalab – and they are engaged!

Alex spent his first internship working for Energy Northwest at the Columbia Generating Station, a nuclear power plant on the Hanford site in Richland, WA as a capital mods design engineering intern. “I then spent a summer in Dallas, TX with Kiewit overseeing the construction of retaining walls and deep foundations for bridges on a large roadway project.” His time there is what made him realize he wanted to be in in the field of construction versus the design side. He also knew he wanted to stay in the Pacific Northwest. “My internship with Kiewit got me stoked on construction, but I didn't like the idea of potentially having to move away from the NW. From the region to the company ethos to the type of work, Sierra fit the bill of what I was looking for perfectly.”
