Burien Fred Meyer spruced up
Sierra Construction late last year finished a 165,000 square foot remodel of the Burien Fred Meyer store at 14300 First Ave. S. Construction costs totaled about $4.4 million.
The project included new finishes throughout the building, such as paint, flooring and ceilings. The sales floor was increased by 9,000 sq. ft. without changing the footprint of the building by reducing stockroom space.
New refrigeration cases were added and integrated into the existing refrigeration system along with replacement HVAC units.
Exterior improvements included new paint and the addition of an outside sales area.
All construction work was completed while the store was open. That required close coordination with the store staff to move merchandise and reorganize floor plans to avoid construction areas.
Mulvanny/G2 Architects was the architect. Subcontractors included Hawkes Electric, Rubensteins, Democon, Allstate Drywall, Patriot Fire Protection and Source Refrigeration.
Sierra’s team included project manager Chip McCullough, project engineer Nick Leighton, and superintendent John Dahlman.
